Sell at the counter, books already written

Every sale moves the stock and writes the entry as it happens. The counter keeps selling when the internet drops.

Sell without waiting

The sale saves the moment it is taken and the next customer is served. Nobody watches a spinner while the network makes up its mind.

Stock moves as you sell

What left the shelf leaves the stock figure at the same moment, at what it cost you. No count at the end of the week to work out what happened.

Every location, separately

Each till belongs to a location and the numbers stay that way. What one counter sold does not blur into what another one did.

The books write themselves

Sale, tax and what it cost you land in the accounts as the sale happens, not when somebody types them up afterwards.

01At the counter

The counter keeps working when the connection does not

The internet drops and the till stops. Somebody writes the sale on paper, and by closing time nobody is sure which ones made it in.

The sale saves the moment it is taken and the next customer is served. When the connection returns it goes up on its own.

See how selling offline works

One sale, one identity, connection or not

A sale taken offline is not a copy to be matched up later. It is the same record with the same identity from the moment it was rung up.

A manager approves without taking the till

The manager types their own code on the till the cashier is holding. Nobody signs out, the basket survives, and the queue does not wait.

02The receipt

A receipt in their hand, however they want it

The printer jams, or the customer wants it on their phone, or they come back next week and nobody can find the sale.

Print it, send it as a document, or send it on WhatsApp. Every sale carries a reference from the moment it is taken.

See how receipts are sent

A receipt that says so when it is provisional

If the sale has not reached the office, the receipt prints marked provisional. The customer holds proof and the cashier knows it is not final.

03The books

The sale writes the entry, not somebody afterwards

The till is one thing and the accounts another. Somebody types a total into the books, and if the two disagree the argument is unresolvable.

Each sale writes the money in, the sale, the tax and what the goods cost you, as it happens. The day's total is not typed anywhere.

See how accounting works

It will not post to an account nobody named

A sale has to say where the money landed. It will not pick for you, because quietly choosing wrong is how the books stop agreeing.

Takings, not a receivable to chase

Nobody owes you anything at closing time

When money and goods change hands together, no debt is created. Nothing to chase at month end. If you also sell on terms, that lives alongside.

The whole point

The counter and the books never disagree.

04The close

The day closes with two people agreeing

The cashier counts the drawer, says it balanced, and goes home. If it did not, you find out weeks later.

The till works out what should be there, the cashier counts what is, and the difference is recorded. Somebody else signs it off.

See how a shift closes

The difference is a record, not a conversation

Opening float plus takings gives what should be in the drawer. The cashier enters what is there, for each payment method, and the difference is kept.

The person who closed the shift cannot be the person who accepts it. It is the oldest control there is and most tills this size lack it.

Questions people ask first

What happens when the internet drops?

The counter keeps selling. The sale saves on the till and goes up on its own when the connection returns, keeping the same identity it had when it was rung up. It is not a copy to be matched later.

Will the customer still get a receipt?

Yes, printed and marked provisional so the cashier knows it has not reached the office yet. The customer holds proof either way, and the reference stays the same once it lands.

Can a manager approve something without the cashier signing out?

The manager types their own code on the till the cashier is holding. The basket survives, the queue does not wait, and the approval carries the manager's name rather than the cashier's.

Does a counter sale move my stock?

Yes, at the location that held it, in the same action as the sale, and what it cost you is written against the sale at the same moment.

Do counter sales create debts to chase?

No. When the money and the goods change hands together there is nothing outstanding. If you also sell on terms, that lives alongside rather than getting mixed in.

How does the drawer get counted?

The till works out what should be there from the opening float and the takings. The cashier enters what actually is, by payment method, and the difference is recorded rather than absorbed.

Can the cashier sign off their own shift?

No. Whoever closed the till cannot be the person who accepts it. It is the oldest control there is and most tills this size do not have it.

Can I run more than one till in a shop?

Yes. Pair as many terminals as you need, see which are asking to be paired, reset a code, or switch one off entirely when a device goes missing.

Does the day's total have to be typed into the books?

No. Each sale writes the money in, the sale, the tax and what the goods cost you as it happens, so there is no end-of-day figure for anybody to key or mistype.

Who can sell, refund and void at the till
Takings by till, by method, by shift

Each till belongs to one location

Cashiers are the people record payroll pays
What it cost you is written at the same moment
The shift close reconciles against the same takings
The till belongs to a location, so locations stay separate
The sale posts through the same ledger
